Samanth Subramanian, a writer and journalist in London, is most recently the author of "A Dominant Character," a biography of JBS Haldane. His earlier book, "This Divided Island: Stories from the Sri Lankan War," was shortlisted for the Baillie Gifford Prize in 2015.
